Competent & Independent

My name is Claude Melde and I am a passionate wildlife photographer. Relying on my expertise, which I have accrued in more than 35 years of extensive travels throughout Africa, I offer my consulting and guiding services under the logo of "Turaco Nature Travel". I am deeply knowledgeable of wildlife, especially birds, and their behaviour and of the people and history of several African countries.
Whether you are an experienced traveller or it is your first time in Africa, if you wish to go on a photo safari in Africa, let me be your consultant!

How does it work?

Let us talk about your plans

It all starts with an interview to discuss your plans, via phone, Skype or email. We will find out whether I can help you set up a safari itinerary that exactly fits your dreams, or just give you some advice. I make reliability and dependability my priorities: therefore, I never even envisage proposing a destination where I have never been myself, and I organize travels exclusively with people and organizations that I know personally. I will suggest one or more tour operators in your country of destination who will then send you their offers based on your itinerary. I will then advise you on these offers. Should you feel more comfortable if I personally join you and your family or group on the trip, I am available to do so, subject to my schedule. Depending on the number of travellers, my assistance may even not entail a significant additional cost for you. My fee for consulting services ranges between €50 and €150 for the setup of an itinerary and my expert advice. You will be pleased to learn that all the money collected with my fees is used to fund development projects that I support in Tanzania. This is made possible by the fact that I do not rely on this activity to earn my living, since I am a wildlife photographer. Visit my website at www.claudemelde.lu and you will see.

I am fully fluent in English, German, French, and Luxembourgish.

Tanzania

This is the dream destination for all birders and friends of the primates. Visit chimpanzee and mountain gorillas in the forest! From the Rwenzori Mountains to the shores of Africa’s largest lake (Lake Victoria) and longest river (Nile), Uganda offers breath-taking landscapes, welcoming people and bountiful wildlife to explore on game drive or boat rides.

From the stunning Victoria Falls to the swamps of Lake Bangweulu, Zambia is the country for those who want a holiday full of activities: Bungee jumping, kayaking, flights over Victoria Falls, river boarding, lion walks or white water rafting. Zambia offers numerous places in the wilderness for guided safaris, birding safaris, canoeing safaris or fishing trips.

Kenya is the classic destination for all those who want to combine wild animals, luxury camps and lodges, and relaxing days at the beach. See the famous big cats and the wildebeest migration in the Masai Mara, the flamingos in the Rift Valley lakes and the famous elephants of the Tsavo.
